Azulejos walking tour: Art on tiles

Azulejos, glazed ceramic tiles, decorate walls and floors in Andalusia in an artistic way. Already the Moors brought pottery knowledge from the Middle East and North Africa to Al-Andalus. Firstly, they imitated Greek-Roman and Byzantine mosaics, but the heyday of the azulejos was reached during the Nasrid rule. Discover this centuries-old art on the Azulejos Walking Tour!

During the city tour, we discover azulejos art in the streets and alleys of Seville’s historic old town and the Triana quarter. Triana is the ceramic centre of the Andalusian capital. Mudéjar tiles (14th /15th century), tile paintings from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, 20th century advertising media and religious folk art from different centuries are part of Seville’s cityscape and are waiting to be discovered by you. Let yourself be surprised by the variety of azulejos!

Recommendation: Extend this tour by visiting the Casa de Pilatos with its famous tile pedestals or the Centro Cerámica in Triana (approx. 45 min each).
