Archaeological park Italica

Lassen Sie sich vom Reichtum und der Monumentalität der römischen Stadt Itálica während der Führung “Archäologischer Park Itálica” überraschen!

Just 10 kilometres from Seville is the Itálica archaeological park, which offers visitors an interesting insight into the life of the Roman population in the former province of Baetica. Itálica has its origins in a military camp dating back to 206 B.C., but developed to full bloom under the emperors Trajan and, particularly, Adrian. At the site of the city expansion under Adrian, the Nova Urbs, the former amphitheatre stands out, which is one of the biggest of the Roman world. Near this, private residences (domus) with floor mosaic can be seen. In particular, the so-called Casa de los Pájaros and the Casa de los Planetas convince through the quality of their mosaics. Semi-public buildings with hypocaust and frescoes, the large thermal bath and the network of roads – some still with the original surface – are further highlights.
